RCMS Monthly Database Maintenance

All of the following steps should be done with all users logged out of RCMS (except for the admin user performing these tasks). If you receive an error 1705 during reindex, this indicates that a user is logged into the system and you should reboot the server containing RCMS and begin the process again.

System Manager:

1) Backup data by exporting all live companies
Transaction > Export Company Data >

2) Transaction > System Recovery > Clear Flags > Clear All Flags > Accept defaults > Proceed

3) Transaction > System Recovery > Move Complete Sessions > Accept defaults > Proceed

4) Transaction > Purge >
a) Error Log
b) Indexing Log

5) Transaction > System Recovery > Reindex System Files > Pack > All

6) Transaction > System Recovery > Reindex Application Files > Set Remove Deleted to Yes, accept other defaults > Proceed > All

7) Transaction > System Recovery > Update Data Dictionary > Ctrl-A, Enter > Yes > Update

8) Transaction > System Recovery > Validate Database > Yes

If the database is invalid you will need to rebuild the database container.  See linked tech article below.

9) Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder where RCMS is installed (example: R:\Pro73).  Find a file named "_cleanup.bat" and double-click it to run.  This utility removes all temporary files that may be stored in the RCMS folders.  The utility will close automatically when it is finished running.

Consult your system manager manual for more information on above processes.
